  12. Anyone know the difference between the USR 28.8 internal Data/Fax Modem and
  13. the NEW USR 28.8 Internal Winmodem?

  15. As fas as I know (from sales person and the box):

  18. - is around $250 in major computer stores

  20. - built-in 33.6 support
  21. - Windows 95 compatible

  24. - is available in Doppler for $199

  26. - can upgrade to 33.6 free (i.e., it's not "built-in")

  31. it will only work under Windows and absolutely not in DOS;
  32. it is Windows 95 compatible; and
  33. it is faster than the "traditional" USR 28.8 Data/Fax Modem (although he do
  34. not have the answer why it is so.)

  37. it is designed for Windows and user will get better file transfer rate
  38. because of its "Windows-specific" design.
  39. However, there is no single word about Windows95 and this is a NEW product
  40. from USR.

  42. If you bought the NEW Winmodem, can tell me if it is true Windows95
  43. compatible and its speed (compare to USR 28.8 Fax/Data modem-if you have
  44. use one before)
