- Anyone know the difference between the USR 28.8 internal Data/Fax Modem and
- the NEW USR 28.8 Internal Winmodem?
-
- As fas as I know (from sales person and the box):
-
- 28.8 Data and Fax
- - is around $250 in major computer stores
- - v.34
- - built-in 33.6 support
- - Windows 95 compatible
-
- 28.8 Winmodem
- - is available in Doppler for $199
- - v.34
- - can upgrade to 33.6 free (i.e., it's not "built-in")
- - Windows support*

- The sales person told me that:
- it will only work under Windows and absolutely not in DOS;
- it is Windows 95 compatible; and
- it is faster than the "traditional" USR 28.8 Data/Fax Modem (although he do
- not have the answer why it is so.)
-
- In the back of the box, it read:
- it is designed for Windows and user will get better file transfer rate
- because of its "Windows-specific" design.
- However, there is no single word about Windows95 and this is a NEW product
- from USR.
-
- If you bought the NEW Winmodem, can tell me if it is true Windows95
- compatible and its speed (compare to USR 28.8 Fax/Data modem-if you have
- use one before)
-
- Your Email is appreciated, thanks.
